What is LED membrane switch?

LED membrane switch, just as its name implies, it is a tactile switch that mounted with LED chips on the circuit layer. It is composed of six layers like other products, and designers can choose the LED that they want, including the LED colors, brands, dimensions and so on.

In the LED tactile membrane switch manufacturing, the mounting process is after circuit printing, and then put the metal dome onto the circuitry layer. This is the only difference between normal PET membrane switch fabrication.

Why use LED tactile membrane switch?

LED membrane switch can be seen as one of backlighting switch types. The LED chips are always popular due to its small volume, long lifetime and energy saving. Its cost-effectiveness and straightforward manufacturing process make it a preferred choice compared to alternative backlighting products.

Different with the rubber buttons on the rubber membrane switches, the LED membrane switch replace it by the LED window/dome emboss. Emboss refers to an extreme small pot on the surface of switch, and it gives the protruding feeling when touch it. Emboss always distribute on the top of metal dome and LED chips, makes the user easily recognize it by touching. The emboss points also provides indication for blind people or when the membrane switch is used in night or dark conditions.
